1. As more color electrophotographic equipments are introduced and placed,
colored toners are regarded as one of the most important items in the market.
OEM manufacturers as well as toner manufacturers are deciding whether to opt for
chemical prepared toner or remain conventional toner.
2 The trend of chemical prepared toner is beginning to change. Emulsion aggregation toner manufacturers such as Konica Minolta, Fuji Xerox and Mitsubishi Chemicals have expanded their production facilities with aggressive enhancement strategies. Since the fall of 2004, Fuji Xerox stated that they would use chemically prepared toner not only for color engines but also for monochrome MFPs and printers. The Xerox Group as a whole is getting more active as Xerox (US) also is boosting the production of polymerized toner.
On the other hand, Canon has been producing suspension polymerization toner but
are beginning to use pulverized toner for their own color engines and are
dubious about long time use of chemically prepared toner. Oki Data changed over
from suspension polymerization toner manufactured by Nippon Zeon to emulsion
aggregation toner manufactured by Mitsubishi Chemicals for their color printers.
Suspension polymerization toner is at a critical turning point.
Ricoh employs ester elongation polymerization toner and made a large-scale
investment in production equipment. This issue covers the trends of Korean
polymerized toner manufacturers as well.
3. The new trend in pulverized toner is as the case with Sharp, that they had only manufactured monochrome toner in-house and now they have announced that they are beginning production of pulverized color toner
